Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains exactly how DashCamGo collects, uses, and protects your data.

Last Updated: April 28, 2026

Introduction

DashCamGo is a mobile dashcam application developed and operated by Jumbo Software Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using DashCamGo, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Permissions & Device Access

DashCamGo requests the following device permissions. Each permission is essential to the core dashcam functionality and cannot be replaced by an alternative approach.

Camera Access

Required

DashCamGo uses your device camera to record continuous video footage while you drive. This is the core function of the app — without camera access, the app cannot operate.

  • • Front and/or rear camera used to capture road footage
  • • Video is recorded continuously while the app is active
  • • Recording may continue when the app is in the background (see section below)
  • • Recordings are saved locally on your device or optionally to cloud storage

Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interests — providing dashcam functionality you have explicitly requested.

Microphone Access

Optional

DashCamGo may record audio alongside video footage to capture in-cabin sounds such as conversations, emergency audio, or road events relevant to an incident.

  • • Audio recording is tied directly to video recording sessions
  • • Audio recording is never active unless video recording is in progress
  • • You can disable audio recording in the app settings at any time
  • • Audio is stored alongside video files, locally or in cloud storage
  • • Audio is never streamed or transmitted to third parties

Legal basis (GDPR): Consent — you may enable or disable audio recording at any time in settings.

Location Access (Foreground & Background)

Required

DashCamGo accesses your precise GPS location both while the app is visible (foreground) and when it has moved to the background (background). This is necessary to provide a continuous and accurate GPS overlay on your recordings.

Foreground Location

Used when the app is open and visible on screen. Provides real-time GPS coordinates, speed, and route overlay on your video recordings.

Background Location

Used when the app continues recording after your screen has turned off or you have switched to another app. Background location ensures GPS data remains accurate and synced with video footage throughout your entire journey — not just when the screen is active. We do not use background location to track your movements outside of active recording sessions.

  • • Location data is used to tag recordings with GPS coordinates, speed, and address information
  • • GPS data is embedded as metadata in your recordings and displayed as a video overlay
  • • Location data is only collected during active recording sessions and is not used for continuous tracking when recording is inactive
  • • Location data is not shared with advertisers or third parties
  • • Location tracking stops when you end the recording session

Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interests — providing accurate GPS-tagged dashcam recordings as a core product feature.

Background Recording

DashCamGo may continue recording video, audio, and location data while the app is running in the background or when the device screen is locked during an active recording session. A persistent notification is displayed while recording is active.

Recording only occurs when the user has explicitly started a recording session. Users can stop recording at any time and can disable audio recording in the app settings.

Data We Collect

Video Recordings

  • Continuous video footage captured from your device camera
  • Protected clips locked by crash detection or manual save
  • Front or rear camera footage depending on your device

Purpose: Core dashcam functionality — recordings are stored on your device or your private cloud storage

Audio Recordings

  • In-cabin audio captured alongside video (when enabled)
  • Audio is only recorded during active recording sessions

Purpose: Optional feature to provide complete incident documentation. Can be disabled in settings.

Location & GPS Data

  • Precise GPS coordinates (foreground and background during recording)
  • Speed (km/h or mph)
  • Route and journey path
  • Heading/direction

Purpose: Embedded as a data overlay on your recordings and stored as video metadata

Accelerometer & Sensor Data

  • G-force readings
  • Motion/impact detection triggers
  • Device orientation

Purpose: Crash detection — automatically locks footage when a significant impact is detected

Account & Subscription Data

  • Email address (for account creation)
  • Subscription status and plan
  • Purchase history (processed via RevenueCat / App Store)

Purpose: Account management and unlocking premium features

Technical & Diagnostic Data

  • App version and device model
  • Crash logs and error reports
  • App settings and preferences

Purpose: App stability, bug fixing, and performance improvement

Data Storage & Security

Local Storage

All recordings are stored locally on the user's device unless explicitly shared by the user. Nothing is transmitted to our servers.

  • • Files are stored in the app's private storage on your device
  • • Loop recording automatically overwrites oldest footage to manage space
  • • Locked/protected clips are never overwritten
  • • All data is deleted when you uninstall the app

Third-Party Service Processors

We use the following trusted sub-processors to deliver the service. We have Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) in place with each:

RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management
Stripe: Payment processing (web purchases)
Celantur: Privacy-preserving video blurring (EU-based)
Apple App Store / Google Play: App distribution and IAP

Data Retention

  • Local Recordings: Retained until manually deleted or overwritten by loop recording
  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure
  • Billing Records: Retained for up to 7 years as required by UK/EU financial law

Data Sharing

✓ We do NOT sell your personal data

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal data or recordings with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for commercial purposes.

We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:
